Fucking Åmål hade biopremiär i Sverige i oktober 1998.

Sixteen-year-old Agnes is the loneliest person in the whole world—or at least that’s how she sees it herself. She has just moved to Åmål and fallen in love with Elin, the most popular girl at school.

Fucking Åmål (Show Me Love) premiered in Swedish cinemas in October 1998. With 868,015 cinema tickets sold, the story of Agnes and Elin became a huge success: two teenage girls from “fucking Åmål” who, after a disastrous birthday party, strike up a friendship that develops into love. There is plenty to fall for here: the sensitive portrayal of teenage rebellion, the spot-on dialogue, the wealth of detail in everything from mixing O’boy to Bingolotto evenings, and a heart-pounding soundtrack packed with hit after hit. It is also filmed with a shaky handheld camera and grainy 16mm cinematography, making it resemble the Danish Dogme 95 movement more than the typical Swedish coming-of-age film.

Suitable for ages 12–13 and up.
Screened with English subtitles!
